Welcome to SABS
The SABS congregation was founded in 1908 by Venerable Thomas Kurialacherry, an ardent devotee of the Holy Eucharist. He got the inspiration from his Eucharistic experience that our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament should always and everywhere be known, loved and adored by all. He started the congregation in collaboration with Mother Mary Francisca de Chantal, the first member and Co-Foundress of our congregation.Started with 5 members the congregation has now grown like the 'mustard seed' taking roots in 104 dioceses spread across the globe and radiate the Eucharistic presence through perpetual adoration, and various ministries. We engage in education, healing ministry and social apostolate in response to the pressing needs of the time. At present, the SABS has about 5000 sisters spread over 17 provinces and 5 regions in 561 houses.
The solemn vestition ceremony of 5 new blossoms to the St. Josephs Province of Thalassery was held on 2011 September 26 at St. Marys Church, Kilianthara and was officiated by Mar Remigius Inchananiyil, Bishop of Thamarassery. Congratulations to Sr. Suma Polepaka from Andhra Jeevodaya Region and Sr. Sharon Kallikadu, Sr. Liji Parakkulangara, Sr. Lis Maria Thekkepookkompil and Sr. Ann Jyothi Puthanapra from Amal Jyothi region Gujarat on the occasion of their vestition and first profession.
The SABS constitution has been definitively approved by the Dicastery (Congregatrion for Oriental Churches). The approval letter from Leonardo Cardinal Sandri, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches reached at Cenacle, SABS generalate on 2011 September 23. Let us all thank God the Almighty for His immense blessings and strive to keep the rules in the Constitution which are “the most beneficial means to achieve perfection”.
Zion Vidya Bhavan, Alwaye, the SABS Theological Institute at Cenacle, has been granted permanent affiliation to the Pontifical Institute of Theology and Philosophy, Alwaye from the academic year 2010-2011 onwards.
The vestition and first profession of 3 novices for the Christu Jyothi Province, Satna was held at St. Little Flower Church, Thrikkakara on 2011 September 24. Mar Bosco Puthur, the Curia Bishop of Syro-Malabar Church was the main celebrant of the solemn liturgical ceremony. The new blossoms to the Satna Province are Sr. Lismi Jose Kaithathara, Sr. Cessil Maria Mundakattu and Sr. Liss Mary Puthenpurayil. Congratulations to the newly professed.
Jai Rani Province of Punjab had 2 new blossoms added to it on September 24th of 2011, by 2 novices having their vestition and first profession. Rt. Rev. Dr. George Punnakkottil, Bishop of Kothamangalam officiated the ceremony held at Nirmala Matha Church, Moovattupuzha. Congratulations to , the newly professed sisters.
